Brief Introduction of the Speaker:
Dr. Sijun Huang is a Professor and Distinguished Research Fellow at the South China Sea Institute of Oceanology, Chinese Academy of Sciences. He works on marine microbial physiological ecology, using model systems such as marine cyanobacteria-phages and roseobacter-phages to study their genetic diversity, biogeographic distribution, genomic evolution, and virus-host physiological and ecological interactions, with a focus on the community structure and function of viruses in marine ecosystems. He has published over 30 papers and serves as Principal Investigator for three projects funded by the National Natural Science Foundation of China, as well as for a project under the National Science and Technology Basic Resources Survey Program, a sub-project under the National Key Research and Development Program, a project under the Major Basic Research and Applied Research Program of Guangdong Province, and a sub-project under the Strategic Priority Research Program (Category A) of the Chinese Academy of Sciences. He has received provincial talent recognition, was selected as a Young Top-Notch Talent of the Guangdong "Special Support Plan" Hundred-Thousand-Ten Thousand Project, and is a member of the Youth Innovation Promotion Association of the Chinese Academy of Sciences. He received the CAS Outstanding Scientific and Technological Achievement Award (2019, as a key contributor).
