The 4th Ningbo University Basic Medical Skills Competition Concludes Successfully

On May 10, the 4th Ningbo University Basic Medical Skills Competition, hosted by the School of Basic Medical Sciences, Faculty of Medicine, came to a successful conclusion. Centered on deepening the reform of medical education and strengthening the practical innovation capabilities of medical students, the competition attracted 69 students.

The competition featured a well-structured and comprehensive agenda, consisting of three core assessment modules. In the morning, participants were evaluated on their research design and experimental planning abilities, as well as their knowledge of basic medical laboratory theories—focusing on scientific thinking, experimental design logic, and solid theoretical foundations. In the afternoon, the contestants moved on to the hands-on functional experiment assessment, where their practical skills and real-time problem-solving abilities were tested in authentic laboratory settings.

The competition awarded 4 first prizes, 8 second prizes, and 24 third prizes, with another 33 students receiving honorable mentions.

This Basic Medical Skills Competition served as a comprehensive review of the participants' theoretical knowledge, experimental skills, and scientific research capabilities. It also marked an important practice of the Faculty’s talent cultivation model centered on “promoting teaching through competition, promoting learning through competition, and integrating learning with competition.” The event effectively stimulated students’ professional enthusiasm and provided valuable experience for nurturing high-quality, application-oriented medical professionals.
